About Neural DSP

Neural DSP produces state-of-the-art amplifiers and plugging powered by artificial intelligence and neural networks. Their mission is to empower musicians by democratizing access to world-class sound.

Neural DSP was founded in Helsinki, Finland 2017 by Chilean musicians Douglas Castro and Francisco Cresp. Neural DSP was the second company for Douglas, having founded Darkglass Electronics earlier in his career. With both companies, his dream has been the same: To create products that would help musicians take their sound to the next level.

The Product

Neural DSP aims to develop technology to advance the stage of the art in the music industry. Their core product is Quad Cortex, the most powerful floor modeler on the planet. With a total of six cores, its processing capacity provides limitless sound design possibilities. Neural Capture™ lets musicians capture, share, and download their favorite rigs’ sounds. The sophisticated neural network algorithm perceives sound akin to human perception, making it the most natural-sounding capture solution in the industry.

The Journey

The journey of Neural DSP has been remarkable: From two founders, the team has grown to over one hundred people in just a few years; amplifiers are now sold worldwide, and they have built a worldwide community around the products, with superstars like Kiko Loureiro from Megadeth, Ruud Jolie from Within Temptation, and Joe Duplantier from Gojira trusting the brand.

The success of Neural DSP has also been recognized: In 2022, Douglas Castro won the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition and will represent Finland in the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year competition next June.

We first invested in Neural DSP in a seed round in 2019 and follow-up in the A-round by CapMan Growth and Rubylight in 2020.

We have been proud of the team has achievements since we started our journey together. And knowing the ambition levels of Douglas and Francisco, we are confident that there is yet more to come. And as the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year finals are closing in, we wish Douglas the best of luck in Monaco!
